“O God! can I not save One from the pitiless wave? Is all that we see or seem But a dream within a dream?” ~ Edgar Allan Poe
A Dream Within a Dream
A human being is a vast universe. Thirsty for beauty, creativity, love, freedom and expansion, people need to be reminded—over and over again—of the vastness and depth of their own being. They need to be reminded that, although the rational mind has brought humanity to great heights, helping us to discover and create things that have never been created before, all this time, the heart had to suffer the consequences of being left aside.
There is no greater power in the whole wide world than the power of the heart. No greater power than being centered in the truth of your Being and doing things from a place of love. Having its dwelling place in eternity, beyond space and time the heart knows things the mind has never even dreamed of. And it can help us rise from the lower planes of matter, where suffering is weighing so heavily on all of us, to the higher planes where love is eternal and joy, freedom, rest and safety are always at home.
As a way to celebrate both the heart, and the mind—no longer working as two separate entities, but rather as ONE toward a common goal—let us venture in the world of poetry and get drunk in the beauty of love and the vastness of who we truly are.
A Dream Within a Dream
BY EDGAR ALLAN POE
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow —
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
