“What is true love if not a remembrance of your own nature and a return to your own origin? What is true love if not the truth of who you are.” ~ Luminița D. Saviuc
What Is True Love?
Do you know what I realized? That in the same way, people settle for way less than they are worth when it comes to doing work that has meaning and living a purposeful and happy life, they do the exact same thing when it comes to love.
In the same way they cling onto all kinds of limiting beliefs, fears, and excuses about what they can do and what they can’t, about what is possible and what is impossible, they do the same when it comes to love.
What is true love? Many people ask.
Is it an invention of our world and society?
Is it a Truth? Is it an illusions?
What is true love?
I really think that all the movies we see, all the songs we hear and all the things people tell us about love are the ones who give love a bad name, turning love into something it is not.
When you constantly hear songs with lyrics that go something like this:
I’m nothing without you.
You make me whole.
You complete me.
I’m dying without you….
And when the movies you are watching are all about this sad, lost, lonely and unhappy people who can’t be happy on their own but once they find their other half, all of a sudden they come back to life, no wonder you start to develop all sorts of limiting beliefs about what love is.
All these movies, songs, commercials they just mess people up.
This is why so many people seek so desperately for the man/ woman of their dreams, thinking that only by finding the right person, the ONE, they will finally be happy and experience true love.
What is True Love Really All About?
We don’t know what love is and we go around pretending like we do. It seems that we are in love with this idea of love but not with love itself.
You’re the love of my life! you often hear people say.
If you ever leave me I will die…
You make me whole!
But how can anyone make you feel whole when you were never incomplete in the first place? And how can anyone be the love of your life when YOU yourself are the love of your life and you don’t even know it?
You really don’t need another person to complete you, you only need someone with whom you can share your completeness. True love is not about finding your completeness in another person but rather about sharing your completeness with them fully, in order to grow and expand more and more each day.
Your salvation will never come from another man or woman.
And you know why?
Because no matter how much love The One will project onto you and no matter how hard they will try to make you feel happy, whole, and loved. If you yourself haven’t found a way to love yourself fully, you will not be able to experience true love. You will never be able to experience the love they want you to experience.
You will keep going back to your original state of being and the sad part is that. Consciously or not, you will drag your partner down with you. Doing your best to take him down at your level, because you know what they say, misery loves company. And you will not want to be alone.
“Those that go searching for love only make manifest their own lovelessness, and the loveless never find love, only the loving find love, and they never have to seek for it”. ~ D.H. Lawrence
The world is nothing but a projection of who we ourselves are. Our lives are nothing but a construct of our thoughts, ideas, and beliefs. And the more we know and understand ourselves, the more we will be able to understand what life is all about, what love is all about, and what we ourselves are all about. Only by knowing ourselves, we can know others and only by loving ourselves we can love others.
“Love is not selective, just as the light of the sun is not selective. It does not make one person special. It is not exclusive. Exclusivity is not the love of God but the “love” of ego. However, the intensity with which true love is felt can vary.
There may be one person who reflects your love back to you more clearly and more intensely than others, and if that person feels the same toward you, it can be said that you are in a love relationship with him or her.
The bond that connects you with that person is the same bond that connects you with the person sitting next to you on a bus, or with a bird, a tree, a flower. Only the degree of intensity with which it is felt differs.” ~ Eckhart Tolle
If you can look to your left and to your right and feel love for all things, if you can look up and look down and feel love for all that you see, then you know what true love really is. You know it because you have experienced it and not because you have heard of it and you think you know it. You know it because you are it and because it is you.
You are in LOVE and LOVE is in you and there is no separation between you two.
“Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions.” ~ Albert Einstein
We know so little about love because we know so little about ourselves, about who we truly are and about what we are really capable of being, doing and achieving.
We go to the Moon, we go to Mars. We explore all corners of the Earth and we explore the Universe but we don’t seem to care too much about exploring our inner world, our internal Universe.
We look for treasures so far away from where we stand, searching for love, life and meaning in all the wrong places, failing to realize that the world is in us and we are in the world. And that all that we need is already within us.
The day will come when we will take a better look at ourselves and all that we are and realize that everything we were searching for, all the love, all the wealth and all the happiness we were so desperately seeking for what was already within us. And oh, what a beautiful day that will be 🙂
“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it”. ~ Rumi
We are the universe gazing back at itself and all that we think is lacking from ourselves, and all that we are searching in the outer world can and will be found, in abundance, by exploring the inner world. But you have to believe it in order to achieve it.
Do you believe it?
** What about you? What is true love for you? Do you believe in it? Have you found it? I really want to know what are your thoughts on this. You can share your insights by joining the conversation in the comment section below 🙂
