On Love: Philosophy for Relationships

“We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.” ~ John Lennon

Everything in life is constantly changing, constantly evolving. The people we love change, we change, the relationships we have with our partners change. Everything changes, nothing ever stays the same. And even though most of us would love for things to always remain the same, for our partners to always behave in the same way, and our relationships to never change, the truth of the matter is that that’s not really a healthy approach to life, to love and to relationships. In fact, that’s not a healthy approach to anything.

I really love Susan Sarandon’s approach to love and relationships, and what she has to say about constantly evolving relationships and what can be learned after you’ve “crashed and burned” a few times. A great little video that offers a lot of wisdom.

Enjoy 🙂
