“The ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ~ Steve Jobs
I remember the day like it was yesterday, the day I announced that I will be changing the world.
I was sitting in the passenger seat of my now wife’s car and I shared with her my desire and vision to make the world a better place. At the time I had no idea how it would happen or what I would do to create the love-filled world I knew was possible. I simply trusted the gut feeling that told me somewhere, somehow, I would figure it out.
She giggled a little and looked at me in awe. She was probably wondering how one person could make such a wild claim when there are over 7 billion people in the world. Needless to say, she’s quite the realist and I am after all just a kind-hearted soul from Indiana with an airy-fairy, hippy-dippy dream, to save the world.
Living Your Purpose and Changing the World
But, despite her bit of disbelief (although I’m sure she thought it was a cute idea), I knew with everything in me that I was placed on this planet to do amazing things with the gifts I’ve been given and one day I would follow the path to exactly where, how, and when I was meant to make a difference.
That time is now.
It took a few years to get to the place where I now have some idea of how I might just fulfill that lifelong dream of changing the world. In every moment of every day I feel the hope of what can be despite what the outward world is telling me.
Where others see widespread panic and hate, I see opportunities for love and peace.
Where others see nations crumbling, I see a new foundation being built out of love and sharing, one kind act at a time.
And where others see selfishness and greed, I see sharing and serving.
I see those things because it is my choice and it is also my reality. A reality I choose to continually create with my words and actions every single day. And while some may believe I have chosen to live in a dream world where nothing is actually real, I know otherwise.
Every day I am blessed by connecting with amazing souls all over the world striving to be of service to others. With dreams not unlike mine, they find themselves teetering on the edge of reality wondering if their wild visions are just distractions from what is real (and wrong) in the world and if their dreams are even possible.
Every day I remind them, that yes their dreams are not only possible but also 100% probable and that burning desire within their soul is reason enough to continue on.
I know that living your dream and changing the world is possible because I am doing it every day. I am changing the world and making it a better place one special, soul-inspired person at a time and I know I am not alone.
To the dreamers and fellow world changers who may be reading this, I want you to know that you are not crazy or disillusioned to think that you can actually make a difference in the world. Deep in your soul, you know that you have an incredibly important purpose and whether you know it or not, it will change the world for the better.
In fact, whether you identify as a dreamer or world-changer doesn’t matter because the truth is we are all world changes in our own way. Whether your dream is to write, act, sing, create or something else entirely, you too are changing the world by simply doing what you love. And if for some reason something has stopped you from fulfilling your deepest desires and caused you to give up on what others call your ‘pipe dream’, I beg you to reconsider.
The world needs you to share your light and brilliance with others so they too can do the same. Imagine for a second if everyone were doing the things they love without hesitating or worrying about being ‘unrealistic’ or being just another person with their head in the clouds.
Can you imagine what kind of a world that would be?
I imagine it’d be like heaven on earth. Showered in love, sharing with one another, while trusting and respecting that we all have a passion and purpose to fulfill because we do.
You do.
Never lose hope or wonder how the pieces will come together because when you have a purpose to fulfill and when you commit to that purpose, the pieces always come together. The people, support, and inspiration that you need will come at exactly the right time. All you have to do is be open to receive them.
Keep dreaming, believing, and trusting in your purpose because when you do, magic happens and one day you will wake up to find that you’ve been changing the world all along.

For eighteen years of my life, I held on to the believe that my purpose in life isn’t just to be born, grow up, go to college, graduate and then get married, (that is if I get that since only a limited number of girls from my country go through college before marriage.) So the first time I told my family I would be a writer who would change the mindset of people someday, some of my siblings laughed, others just looked at me and said in a disappointing tone, “crazy girl. You always come up with big dreams but never follow it through.” That’s what I get each time I dream something big up. But deep down inside me, I know that I’m crazy, but crazy with purpose. And although the current project I’m handling is kinda tough, your words has egged me on to continue being crazy with purpose until I get to my destination and see my dream in motion.
Thank you Lamisha for the encouraging words. This is my first time here and I hope to be a regular contributor.
