Changes are the one constant in our lives. It’s always happening, and that’s a beautiful thing! It shows you who you are, what you’re capable of, and how exciting life can be.
Have you ever felt anxious about making a life change?
If so, you’re not alone! Change can be scary. It means life will not be as it once was. You may encounter new challenges, new opportunities, and even an entirely new way of living.
There are more unknowns than knowns. You might ask yourself questions like:
Can I really do this?
Will I be able to overcome the new challenges that come my way?
Will I be happy?
The answer to all of these is yes! With the right mindset, you can thrive as life changes. I know because I’ve experienced it.
I’ve switched careers, lived abroad, ended relationships, and undergone many other life changes. We all have. And the key to embracing these changes is a willingness to grow.
As John Maxwell said:
Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.
3 Important Things to Remember When Your Life Changes
Here are 3 important things to remember when your life changes.
1. Change Builds Character.
Each time you make a life change, you’re betting on yourself. You’re saying, “I can do this.” While doubt may creep in sometimes, the choice you made is rooted in self-confidence.
Embrace that foundation, and build upon it! Cheer yourself on as you make life changes, and your confidence will increase.
This confidence – this willingness to go out into the unknown – will also improve your resilience.
When challenges arise, you’ll know you can adapt. You’ll know you will rise up stronger. And your resilience will power you forward.
2. Change Fosters Wisdom.
Wisdom comes from experience. And making a life change is just that: opening yourself up to new experiences.
For instance, when I practiced as an attorney, I learned how juries were picked, stood up for my clients’ rights, and managed a heavy workload.
When I switched to a career in sales, I learned how to help businesses, worked collaboratively on a team, and handled financial uncertainty.
Each lifestyle offered experiences that the other did not. And I’m so thankful for the wisdom I gained from doing both! My hunch is that you will feel the same as you explore life changes of your own.
3. Change Opens Doors.
It’s completely natural to feel anxious before a life change. That said, change is the stuff of life! It presents so many exciting opportunities that didn’t exist before.
As the saying goes, “You must do something you’ve never done, to get something you’ve never had.” By embracing life changes, you’ll do new things that will lead to new benefits.
Perhaps one of the greatest benefits is a fresh perspective. There are so many ways to live a life and see the world before you. How blessed are we to be able to explore new ways of living?
To see things in a new light?
It’s no wonder that change can give you the ultimate zest for life.
You’ve Got This!
Changes are the one constant in our lives. It’s always happening, and that’s a beautiful thing! It shows you who you are, what you’re capable of, and how exciting life can be.
So make your next life change with confidence, and remember: you’ve got this.
