“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” ~ Walt Disney
Often we get caught up in situations that do us a lot of harm and often we interact with people that don’t always have our good intentions at heart. Things happen, people hurt us but what’s most important and what really counts is our attitude toward them.
I don’t always walk the talk and I often get caught up in this type of situation and after the storm is gone, I wake up and I realize what I have just done. I try to learn from everything that happens to me, I try to learn from all the people that enter my life because I honestly believe that they are all here to teach us something important, and I always look for the lesson in everything and everyone. No matter what happens to me, good or bad, I know there is a lesson for me to learn and by doing that I personally avoid a lot of pain.
I believe we all have been hurt by people who were dear to us and by people who we thought to be our friends. Situations like this are more painful than being hurt by someone we have no feelings attached to, and that is because we have so many expectations from those we love, we expect only good things from their part. It’s good to always try to understand their behaviors and forgive them if you can. I am not saying to forget what they did to you, I am only saying that in order for you to be at peace with yourself and those around you, with the world we live in, you have to let go of the anger and you have to let go of the hate you might have for that person, situation…
You are not hurting anyone by holding on to anger but yourself.
“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” ~ Buddha
Unfortunately, not too many people are aware of this fact and they are holding on a grudge for days, months, years or worse, a lifetime. I know people like that and I believe you know too. It’s such a shame that we choose to waste our time and energy in such a wrong direction. If you are one of these people, know that you are the only one that is suffering here and those people who might have hurt you in the past are not affected by your anger, pain or grudge.
You are the only one who is hurting here, you and only you! So why not let that go, why not choose to remove yourself from this place where you are a victim, a victim of your own thoughts and feelings, and why not take control of that? Why not choose to step up and realize that it’s all within your control, the power to heal yourself is within you. It was there all along, it’s just that you were too busy with feeling sorry for yourself and relieving all those horrible situations from the past, that you couldn’t see the way out, you just couldn’t see the light.
It’s a choice you make. You either choose to feel miserable and continuing directing your anger and hate toward those people who did you so much wrong, or you can choose to take responsibility for your own feelings and try to see what can you to learn from these situations. No one can hurt you without your consent, no one can make you feel inferior without you allowing them too. The way you are feeling is a result of your own thinking, a result of the way you choose to process everything that happens to you in your life. There is a lesson in everything, and if you choose to see everything that happens to you from this perspective, your whole life you be simplified, you will grow and you will become a bigger and better person as a result of this never-ending learning process.
It’s amazing how some people are reliving the same situations over and over again just because they think they have no control over their lives, over what’s happening to them. They are seeing themselves, always, as victims of an outside force who is always controlling their lives.
Why choose to be a victim, why choose to give all your power away to some invisible forces, to other people, situations? When you choose to take responsibility for everything that happens to you, your whole life will change and you will no longer feel like a victim. What you will realize in that very moment will be that you are the creator of your life and it’s all within your control.
Change the way you look at things, change your polluted thinking and change your behaviors. You can’t expect to get different results from doing the same things over and over again, or do you? A lot of us do just that. We repeat the same actions over and over again and we can’t seem to understand why is it that we don’t get different results. Why is it that we can’t seem to get ahead with our lives, why is it that we can’t be happy? We deserve to be happy and we can’t seem to understand why is it that everybody is doing just fine except us. We complain, we criticize and we condemn the Universe, God, the invisible forces who seem to be playing with our lives. It’s not God, it’s not the Universe, it’s no invisible higher power that is making our life a living hell. It’s just us. “So often time it happens, we all live our life in chains, and we never even know we have the key.” Once you realize this truth, you will have the power to change everything and you will have the power to transform your life the way you want. Isn’t that great? Of course, it is. It’s magnificent, it’s wonderful, it’s great!
“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.” ~ Buddha

We all know these things, it’s just that we get so caught up with our so called problems that we forget who we really are… We have no problems, we only THINK we have.
