Serving as a Purpose
A student once asked his teacher:
Master, what need I do, that I am not doing to fulfill my purpose?
To which the master softly replied:
You fulfill your purpose when you take your attention from yourself and place it onto serving another.
You fulfill your purpose by serving another…
The Power of Humility and the Beauty of Serving Another
The great Chinese Master, Lao Tzu wrote about the beauty and power of serving another in his book, Tao Te Ching more than 2500 years ago:
“Serve the needs of others, and all your own needs will be fulfilled. Through selfless action, fulfillment is attained.” ~ Lao Tzu
In a world that teaches us to constantly focus our energy and attention on ourselves – my needs, my wants, what can I get, how can I shine more and more, etc., we are invited to shift our focus from our little self and place it onto something greater.
To place it onto serving another.
My mentor, Dr. Wayne Dyer used to teach his students to ask themselves each morning this simple yet powerful question:
How may I serve?
How may I serve?
What if you started asking the same question? What if you looked in the mirror each morning and asked yourself:
How may I serve?
Serve the needs of others, and all your own needs will be fulfilled.
Serve the needs of others, and all your own needs will be fulfilled. Through selfless action, fulfillment is attained.
Though the world we live in would make us believe that instead of loving and serving one another, we have to compete and defeat those who might get in the way of us being, doing, and having whatever it is we want to achieve. The truth of the matter is that only by serving the needs of others will we find true peace, happiness and fulfillment.
You were born with unique gifts and talents. What you can do, nobody else can. And you can learn to use what was given to you to enrich, not only your life but also the lives of others.
All through serving the needs of others.
That’s the key to aligning yourself with good health, happiness, wealth and prosperity, and a deep sense of love, fulfillment, peace, and wellbeing.
Remember, what you put out there, always comes back tenfold.
