Is The Grass Greener On The Other Side?

“Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.” Author unknown

Have you noticed how people have a tendency of always comparing themselves with others, and how to them the lives of those around them always seems to look a lot better than theirs? I don’t know where we learn to think like this, I really don’t know how it all started, but what I do know, is that this is not a healthy way of living our lives.

Why compare yourself with others? What good does that do to you? Who cares if their lives look better or not? You should focus all of your energy and attention on yourself; you should focus all of your energy and attention to improve yourself and your life, to constantly look for new ways to live a happier, healthier, and more balanced life, not to compare yourself with others… that won’t help.

You can’t know what their lives are really like, you can’t know what others are feeling, what others are really experiencing behind closed doors. The reality isn’t always what it seems, life isn’t always what it seems. If you insist on comparing yourself with others, and if you allow yourself to think that everybody is living a better life than you do, you will be unhappy for the rest of your life.

Let me tell you something. You aren’t the only one who thinks that your life is horrible and that the lives of those around you are really magnificent. A lot of times, the people you envy, envy you back, and just like you, they are living with the impression that your life is way better than theirs, and that you are way luckier than they are, and that your family looks so much better, and that you are so much happier than they are, so much smarter, and the list could go on and on.

I think we should all pause for a few minutes and think about how lucky we are to be who we are, and how lucky we are to be living the life we are now living. We should all take a look at ourselves, at our surroundings,  at our friends and family, in your lives, and realize how lucky we are and how happy we should all be… We should try and see things for what they really are, not for what our mind is telling us they are.

Try releasing yourself from all the negative thoughts that are running through your mind; try releasing yourself from all the polluted and destructive thinking, and you will eventually see how good will that make you feel, and how much lighter your life would get. You are you, unique and special, and your life is just perfect the way it is. You are exactly where you should be at this very moment, and the proof is right in front of your eyes. All the choices you have made until now have brought you here, and all the choices you will make starting now, will take you in a new direction, and it’s up to you to choose in what direction you will be going.

Stop complaining about how bad you have it and accept life as it is. Express your  gratitude for who you are and what you have in this very moment, and know that, if you aren’t happy  with who you are and what you have in this exact moment, chances are that you will not be happy when you will have more, chances are that you will never be really satisfied, happy and at peace.

When you choose to complain about your life, when you choose to complain about how unhappy you are, you automatically become a victim, but when you decide to take responsibility for what is, when you accept that you are where you are because of the choices you have made in the past, when you accept reality as it is without trying to resist it, that’s when you become powerful and in control of your life, that’s when you realize that your life is as you make it and that in fact, you are the only in charge of your happiness, in charge of your life.

It doesn’t really matter whether the grass is greener on the other side or not, that will never make you happy. If you want to know what will make you happy, try working on improving yourself as an individual, try working on improving your own life, and in the end you will discover how, it doesn’t really matter what others are doing, being or having, all that matters is what you are doing, being and having.

The grass isn’t greener on the other side; it’s just different shades of brown…

Yeah others always seem to be happier than we… But everybody has their own problems to be solved. I’d like to remember the words of Chechov A: All families are happy, but happy in their own way…
