Is Stress Toxic? 9 Reasons Why You Should Give Up Stress

“The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.” ~ William James

9 Reasons Why You Should Give Up Stress

1. You become a lot smarter

“Brain cells create ideas. Stress kills brain cells. Stress is not a good idea.” ~ Frederick Saunders

It is scientifically proven that every time you are under stress, you lose intelligence. The moment you react to whatever happens to you instead of taking the time to think things through – taking the time to actually respond instead of reacting – you go into the fight or flight mode, and your blood starts rushing through your veins to your extremities, going to your muscles and away from your brain.

In fact, you are actually telling your body that a wild beast is coming! Of course, the body gets ready to defend itself, but at the expense of your intelligence. The moment you understand this, you can keep your intelligence in place and you will be a lot smarter than you would have been if you had reacted to the stress is present in your life.

2. You will look younger

“Every stress leaves an indelible scar, and the organism pays for its survival after a stressful situation by becoming a little older.” ~ Hans Selye

Who doesn’t want to look young and age gracefully? Nowadays, at the speed that we are going through life, every time stress attacks, every time we are either under stress or just thinking about this horrible beast, our cells start aging faster and faster, making us look tired and washed out, making us look older than we actually are and shortening our lifespan. But not to worry, there is still hope. Once you learn how to deal with stress, not only will you start looking younger, your face will light up! You will be a lot happier, you will age gracefully and you will live longer 🙂

3. The quality of your friendships will improve.

It’s so unpleasant to see people go from being kind and sweet to real beasts the moment they are under stress. It is not healthy and nobody should live their lives this way. If you want to have lots of friends, quality people to spend your time with, and if you want them to enjoy you and your presence, choose to leave stress behind and your wish will come true.

4. You will have more time to love yourself.

“As you love yourself, so shall you love others. Strange but true, with no exceptions.” ~ Harry Stack Sullivan

I know so many people who can’t stand being alone with themselves – not even for a second. They simply can’t stand the person they are alone with. When you are under stress for too long, it becomes part of your life and you start identifying with it. You want to complain all the time and you want to tell everyone how miserable you are. They have a right to know how stressful your life is!

You get to a point where you simply can’t live with yourself any longer, constantly trying to run away from your own shadows, your own thoughts, your own person. If you choose to leave stress behind, that will no longer be the case. You will fall in love with yourself – not in a narcissistic way, but in a pure and selfless way. And when that happens, more and more people will enjoy being in your presence, including you!

5. You will feel happier and more at peace

“Attachment to being right creates suffering. When you have a choice to be right, or to be kind, choose kind and watch your suffering disappear.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer

The moment you give up the need to react to everything that happens to you, the moment you give up the need to call yourself a victim of “stressful situations” and “stressful people” will be the moment you will achieve inner peace and happiness.

Inner peace and happiness are exactly what every human being on this planet is after, and that is exactly what you will achieve in the absence of stress.

6. Your physical appearance will improve.

“Don’t let your mind bully your body into believing it must carry the burden of its worries.” ~ Astrid Alauda

Not only will giving up on stress make you look younger and help you age gracefully, but it will actually improve your appearance. I know someone who used to work in a very tense environment where people were not honest with one another, talked behind each other’s backs and did many other nasty things to each other. Once she left that negative environment, something that I can’t even put into words happened to her.

Every time I see her now, it feels like she has this inner light that gets stronger and brighter each time. Her appearance has improved enormously. She is now free of stress, her own and the stress of those around her. She is happy, content and looking more beautiful than ever.

7. You will inspire the people around you.

If you manage to free yourself from stress, all kinds of transformations will start to take place. People will want to know what happened. And they will want you to help them do the same for themselves. You have no idea how fulfilling that will be! By sharing with them your experiences and your transformational process, you will help them improve the quality of their lives, you will help them live more gracefully and you will help them live a happier life.

8. Your dreams will manifest a lot faster

“The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on things we desire not things we fear.” ~ Brian Tracy

Another thing that will happen to you once you will start moving away from stress toward a more peaceful, serene and focused life? You will achieve your goals and dreams a lot faster.

Why is that?

Well, remember what we said about stress? Your body starts pumping the blood away from your brain and to your muscles, “helping” you to lose intelligence, taking you farther and farther away from staying focused and engaged in your activities, making it almost impossible for you to move confidently in the direction you want to move.

The moment stress is no longer present is the moment there will be no other distractions. You will be able to stay laser-focused on achieving the things you want. You will have more energy, more confidence and you will be a lot more passionate about your life and the things you do. You will notice how things start to happen for you a lot faster than you thought possible and that your life is getting better and better, every day in every way.

9. You will build stronger family relationships.

“Appreciating each other is a true family value, one that will bail out much of the stress on the planet and help strengthen the universal bond all people have.” ~ Sara Paddison

Just think for a moment how it feels for your family to see you under stress. And if you have children or grandchildren, it’s even worse. Energy is contagious, but it is not the only thing that is contagious. You will contaminate them with toxic energy every time you are under stress, but you will also teach your children (whether you realize it or not) that stress is part of life, that stress is normal, and it is possible they will grow up repeating your behavior. Is that what you want for your children?

Letting go of stress and leaving all that is negative behind will help you build healthier and stronger relationships with your family and it will help you raise healthy, strong and beautiful children.

Thank you so much. I’ve learned something new and inspiring from Kahlil Gibran and will always remember the saying:
“I have learned silence from the talkative, tolerance from the intolerant and kindness from the unkind. I should not be ungrateful to those teachers.”
