Video: How to Make Stress Your Own Best Friend

We all go through stressful situations on a daily basis and we all know that stress is harmful but until what point?

Have you ever stopped to think that you can control the effect stress has on your body, seeing that nowadays there are more and more people affected by stress-based illnesses?

A study that tracked 30.000 adults in the U.S. over a period of 8 years has shown that people who have experienced stress in the past year had a 43% higher risk of dying, but this was also due to their belief that stress is harmful to your health. For those people that have experienced a high amount of stress but didn’t see it as unhealthy, the risk of dying turned out to be the lowest.

So, you see, the way we look at stress is critical for our health and wellbeing…

In this beautiful TED Talk, Stanford University psychologist Kelly McGonigal teaches us how to change the way we look at stress, turning something that is perceived as being toxic, unhealthy and negative by so many of us, into something healthy and positive.

Enjoy 🙂
