“Learn to look within yourself for that which you seek out there. For you will never find your joy, peace, and fulfillment out there. You will only find it by learning to look within…” ~ Luminita D. Saviuc
Look Within
I am often surprised by how much power the external world has over us and how little and insignificant we perceive ourselves to be in comparison to everything that’s happening around us.
When you identify yourself with your physical form, taking your value and sense of worth from outside of yourself – your job, age, physical appearance, your family and friends, your material possessions, your accomplishments, and so on, you can’t help but feel some sort of fear when the security of all the things you cling on to is threatened.
When you rely on something transitory to bring you joy and fulfillment, and when your sense of identity comes from something that is bound to change, how can you not feel afraid?
On Learning to Look Within Yourself for Truth and Guidance
“If you look to others for fulfillment, you will never truly be fulfilled. If your happiness depends on money, you will never be happy with yourself. Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.” ~ Lao Tzu
People want to feel safe and secure, and because they think that safety comes from outside themselves, they spend their entire lives chasing for that which they believe is missing from within themselves. Failing to realize that nothing external to them will ever bring them the long-lasting peace, joy, and fulfillment they seek and deserve.
It’s true that the world we live in encourages us to look outside ourselves for love, happiness, safety, peace, and fulfillment. Wanting us to believe that the more we have – money, material things, friends, approval, popularity, success, fame, etc., the happier we will be and the better our lives will get. But it’s also true that we have the power to no longer allow a mad world to dictate how we should live our lives.
“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” ~ Carl Jung
Even though the world tries to convince you that it knows what’s best for you, constantly telling you where to look for love, for meaning, for happiness and fulfillment; wanting you to chase a mirage for the rest of your life, the truth of the matter is that if you stop looking without and start looking within, you will eventually discover that all the answers to your questions are within yourself. Within, not without!
There’s no need for you to spend your entire life chasing a mirage.
If you want to know yourself as the eternal and non-changing being that you truly are; if you want to know your true value, worth, beauty, wisdom, and power, and if you want to experience the everlasting love, peace, joy, and fulfillment that comes from living in alignment with who you are underneath it all, all you have to do is let go!
Let go of everything that keeps you stuck. Let go of everything that makes you feel unworthy and never enough. Let go of all those unhealthy thoughts, toxic beliefs, and expectations. Let go of all attachments. And in doing so, you will allow life to shape and help you become everything you were created to be.
“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.” ~ Lao Tzu
Empty yourself of yourself. Let the old you die so that the new you can come to life. Make room in your heart for truth, love, and light.Dare to awaken from the deep sleep you’ve been in for so long.
Look within for truth and guidance.
Think your own thoughts. Create your own ideas. Develop your own beliefs. Create your own rules. Listen to your inner voice and follow your intuition.Trust the messages of your heart. Rely on your own inner guidance. And by doing so, you will be free… By doing so, you will know how to live…
“Look within. You are the world.” ~ Jiddu Krishnamurti
