“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
What is your life purpose?
“Is life purpose even a thing? I thought it was just some fairy tale people made up to make money.”
I would be lying if I told you my jaw didn’t dropped open in the middle of the supermarket at this statement. For several long moments, I stared at the arrays of neatly packaged bread without comprehending a thing.
How could anyone truly believe this was true?
I turned to share my thoughts but she was long gone.
With determination, I rushed home, pulled out my laptop and started writing.
You (yes, you) need to know that you are here for a specific purpose and no one else can fill your shoes. You are special and in this article, I’m going to tell you the secret to finding your life purpose and consequently, your dream job.
Long story short, you already know the answer to this question.
Deep down, you know exactly why you’re here and what you’re supposed to do in the world. You’re supposed to give back in a meaningful way and live an abundant life full of love, laughter and gratitude.
You knew it in your heart when you were born and you still know it.
The only problem is that along the way, you allowed society to tell you what to do, how to act, what to wear, what to watch, who to spend time with, how to talk and literally everything else in life.
“Whenever you become anxious or stressed, outer purpose has taken over, and you lost sight of your inner purpose. You have forgotten that your state of consciousness is primary, all else secondary.”~ Eckhart Tolle
Sure, society taught you vocabulary and grammar, but the use of those tools was supposed to be completely up to you. Instead, through media, school, home life and other influences, you’ve been conditioned to speak and behave in a certain way.
How to Find your Life Purpose and Your Dream Job
How many times have you found yourself spending time with people you don’t resonate with, or saying things that you really don’t believe just because it’s what would make your “friends” laugh?
More than once I bet.

I’ll tell you what.
Your life would completely change.
Break Free from Societal Norms
When you break free from societal norms, incredible things start to happen:
- Toxic people and relationships find themselves left out in the cold
- Jobs, pastimes and activities that don’t serve you come to an abrupt end
- You laugh more
- You play more
- You connect (and reconnect) with people who truly light you up
- Opportunities for growth and abundance come your way
- Pretty much all the awesome things that you’ve always wanted start to happen to you spontaneously
- You stop recognizing your own life because of how awesome it is
How to Find Your Life Purpose
Okay now that we’ve established the why, it’s time to talk about the how.
It’s as simple and difficult as reconnecting with the quiet voice inside.
It’s as simple and difficult as resting in stillness and allowing yourself to merge into that still space and expand infinitely.
It’s as simple and difficult as saying no to all the things that don’t resonate with you and;
It’s as simple and difficult as listening to your heart.
Right now, you might be thinking, ‘Okay Parm, but HOW?’
In my own journey, I used yoga (no you do NOT need to be flexible to practice), breath work and meditation (yes, it starts off being next to impossible) to bring stillness to my mind and reconnect with my inner knowing.
I discovered along the way that that’s what yoga was originally intended for (cue a cut scene of my mind being blown).
As I continued to practice, my body became healthier, my mind became more and more still and I became happier and happier.
