How to Trust Life Again, after You Have Lost All Hope

Little by little, you can learn to trust life again and return to a place of inner peace, love, and safety. And these 8 steps are meant to help you achieve just that:

How to Trust Life Again

1. Leave the past in the past

I know it can be quite challenging to stop looking back at all the things that happened and all the things that could have happened. But in order for you to move forward, you have to stop looking back.

Bring your focus back to where life is – here and now, and leave the past in the past. Let go and learn to trust life again.

2. Forgive Life

We all have moments when we feel disappointed, betrayed, and abandoned by Life. Moments when we feel as though life no longer cares about us. But the truth is that Life loves us a great deal. And through every experience and every interaction it sends our way – no matter how dark, painful and difficult – it wants us to step back into our Power and it wants us to reclaim the right to Be all that we were created us to be.

Life is a great friend and a powerful ally. And if you make an “effort” to forgive it for all the horrible things you think it has done to you, you will open your heart to its love and you will be able to welcome with an open heart the many gifts and blessings it has to offer you.

Don’t resist Life.

Forgive. Release. Let go.

3. Hold no grudges

Instead of holding grudges, choose to bless everyone that comes your way, including those people who give you a hard time. Hold no grudges. Forgive everyone and set them free. Set yourself free.

“I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet, strange, I am ungrateful to those teachers.” ~ Khalil Gibran

4. Forgive yourself

If you learn from everything that happens to you, and if we get into the habit of saying “thank you” for all the painful and not so painful experiences that life sends your way, you will soon realize that there are no such things as mistakes, only lessons to be learned and skills to be mastered.

Everything in life happens FOR you, not TO you.

You, dear one, have done nothing wrong. And it is time for you to forgive yourself and move on with your life. It is time for you to practice gentleness and trust life again.

5. Practice gentleness

You are human just like everyone else, and as long as you will be living and breathing, you will fall down and you will stumble. But does that mean you a horrible person?

Of course not!

So stop being so harsh on yourself and start treating yourself with the kindness, respect, gentleness, and compassion you need and deserve.

Treat yourself in the same way you would treat a sweet little baby who is just learning how to walk. Because learning to trust life again is a lot like learning to walk for the first time.

6. Let go of fixed plans and concepts

For those of us who are fixated on how things should happen and how life should unfold, things can get quite challenging at times. And you know why? Because we don’t want to let go.

We are so stubborn and so attached to our fixed plans, goals, dreams, and desires that we don’t want to surrender. We don’t want to put our faith and trust in anything other than ourselves. But we have to!

If you want to learn how to trust life again, you have to learn to let go of fixed plans and concepts, and you have to learn to put your trust in something bigger than yourself. And you have to learn to surrender.

7. Surrender yourself to the wisdom of Life

Be wise enough to listen to your own Heart and Soul. Don’t rely solely on your mind and judgment to plan your life and make things happen. Surrender yourself to the wisdom of Life and humble yourself before your own Heart and Soul. Know that:

“With humility comes the willingness to stop trying to control or change other people or life situations or events ostensibly ‘for their own good’. To be a committed spiritual seeker, it is necessary to relinquish the desire to be ‘right’ or of imaginary value to society. In fact, nobody’s ego or belief systems are of any value to society at all. The world is neither good nor bad nor defective, nor is it in need of help or modification because its appearance is only a projection of one’s own mind. No such world exists.” ~ David Hawkins

8. Be patient

One of my favorite sayings on patience comes from Saint Francis de Sales:

“Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.” ~ Saint Francis de Sales

Focusing too much on the end result and how you want things to be can make you feel scared and overwhelmed – you look at where you are and where you want to be and the distance seems so long, and of course you want to give up.

But you have to be patient.

You have to learn to honor the sacredness of each moment without letting your mind bully you into thinking you need to move faster and faster each day because if you don’t, you will fall behind.

There is no need to rush. No need to be in a hurry.

Trust Life Again

All that’s required of you is to do is do all things patiently by treat each moment as if it were sacred (because it is), and let Life take care of the rest. Because it will!

And these are some of the ways in which you can learn how to trust Life again.

What about you?

Do you trust that Life will take good care of you and your needs? Or do you live in fear thinking that You have to do it all yourself?
