Allow life’s many pains and hardships to make you Better, not Bitter. To refine you like silver and purify you like gold. To turn your wounds into wisdom and all your difficulties into opportunities. ~ Luminita D. Saviuc
Become Better
Life’s many challenges are meant to make us Better, not Bitter. But it all depends on how we choose to manage our moments of hardship, intense pain, and darkness.
10 Ways to Help You Become Better, Not Bitter
1. Intend to become Better, not Bitter.
Intend to become a better, wiser, and more loving version of your self. Nurture thoughts that are meant to help you feel better. For in doing so, these elevated thoughts and feelings will help shape you and your life in ways that are kind, meaningful, life-giving, and loving. And with the passing of time, you will be surprised to discover that you have become one of those rare individuals who are now growing wiser, not older, kinder, not bitter.
2. Stay away from all that is toxic.
As a wise man once said it, nothing perhaps affects man’s character more than the company he keeps.
Keep yourself away from places, people, and experiences that are meant to poison your beautiful mind, and intoxicate your loving heart.
Do not let darkness sneak upon you. In doing so, you will feel more centered and at peace – with yourself and the world around you. And from this sacred and balanced place, it will be so much easier for you to become Better, not Bitter.
3. Commit to a higher version of your self.
Paint an image in your mind of the person you would love to become, of the thoughts you would like to think, the feelings you would want to feel, and the behaviors you would love to demonstrate in your world. Keep your eyes focused on this higher version of yourself. And remind yourself as often as needed of the person you aspire to become.
Allow this noble image of you to be a source of strength, courage, and inspiration in your times of darkness. And no matter what happens to you and all around you, do not allow anything or anyone to keep you from becoming one with this higher version of yourself.
4. Allow pain to restore all of you back to Life.
“Every experience that comes your way, comes to free you from your endless fears, pains and attachments; to balance the chaos within you and restore the whole of you back to life. Be not afraid. It’s all for your highest good.” ~Luminita D. Saviuc
When pain comes knocking on your door, act as the noble being that you are, and gracefully let it in.
Don’t fight it. Don’t resist it. And don’t try to run away from it. For pain is not your enemy. But rather your healer.
Allow pain to reveal to you the parts of you that are in need of healing; the parts of you that have been neglected for so long. And let this pain restore all of you back to life.
5. Surrender.
Surrender yourself constantly to that part of you that lives in Light, Truth, Love, and Awareness – through mindfulness, prayer, meditation, time in nature, stillness, and other ways that create peace of mind. Allow the Truth of you to guide you through life’s many hardships. To teach you how to turn your wounds into wisdom and all your difficulties into opportunities. And how to come out of your pains and struggles – refined like silver and purified like gold.
6. Model the behavior of the great ones.
You are not alone. The challenges you are now facing, somebody has faced them before. Seek to know who these people were. For in doing so, in your moments of intense pain and darkness, you will not feel so alone.
Model the behavior of the great ones who have walked before you. Model the behavior of those who have faced the same struggles you are now facing – with courage, grace, and confidence. And allow their brave actions and behaviors to teach you how to commit to your journey and walk your path with courage, confidence, and dignity.
7. Ask for help.
Believe it or not, human nature is kind and loving – we have it in us to want to help others. And underneath all this madness, rush, and chaos, we are good, kind, and loving.
Seek to find those who are to be trusted with your pain and vulnerability. And allow their love and goodness to be a light onto your path.
Do not be afraid to ask for help. People were born to help people.
8. Let life be and you will become Better, not Bitter.
Life is as it is – sometimes good and sometimes bad, sometimes fun and sometimes not. And even though we might not always understand why things are the way they are, the moment we surrender and allow things to just be, that is always the moment your life is restored to balance and your mind to peace.
9. Be a Light onto this world.
When others act in cruel and unloving ways, be the one who chooses to be kind; If you see people complaining about everything and everyone, be the one who chooses to look for things to appreciate; When the world around you talks about lack, poverty, scarcity, and ‘never enough’, choose to be the one who embodies abundance through your generous thoughts, feelings, and affluent giving.
10. Forgive and you will become Better, not Bitter.
There is goodness in people; there is also darkness, hate, and cruelty. But to respond to darkness with darkness, you will only create more darkness.
Forgive people for being what they are.
Forgive them for their ignorance, cruelty, hatred, and malice. Forgive them for being the slaves of their own darkness and ignorance. And make a promise to yourself to never judge or condemn anyone. For we are not here to judge one another. Nor are we here to condemn each other for our mistakes. We are here to love and help each other, to do better, and become better.
And these are the 10 ways to help you become a better human being in the face of chaos, madness, pain, and suffering. I hope these words will inspire and empower you to leave behind all that is dark, hurtful, bitter, and unloving so that you can become the Noble Being you were created to be.
